Keppel Centre For Art Education
Dr. Elizabeth Kim served as the Early Years Consultant for the revamp of Keppel Centre for Art Education, Singapore's first dedicated art education facility, located within the iconic National Gallery Singapore. She brought strategic expertise to ensure the redesigned Centre offered engaging, play-based art experiences for children aged 0–8 and their families.
Guidelines Development and Design Consultation:
Dr. Kim led the creation of Early Years Guidelines that shaped the Centre’s conceptual, architectural, and operational design. These guidelines ensured the space prioritized child-led, play-based learning and fostered inclusive, family-oriented engagement with art. She contributed in design meetings, advising on how to integrate creative vision with the practical needs of young children and caregivers.
Stakeholder Engagement and User Testing:
To inform and refine the design, Dr. Kim co-developed survey tools and facilitated focus group discussions with key stakeholders. She also co-facilitated user testing sessions before the official launch, gathering feedback from internal and external participants to optimize the visitor experience.
Training and Post-Launch Research:
Dr. Kim co-developed and delivered training for front-of-house staff, equipping them to support child-led exploration and family learning effectively. After the Centre’s reopening, she conducted structured observation sessions on visitor behaviour, producing a detailed illustrated report that informed ongoing programming and operational improvements.
Through this comprehensive role, Dr. Kim helped ensure the revamped Keppel Centre remains a dynamic, inclusive environment that inspires creativity, curiosity, and meaningful connections among children, families, and educators.
